Analyze Your Data

The Analyze screen is where users with the related privileges can configure and generate visual analysis reports based on the selected timeframe and types of incidents.

You can use any of the following variables to configure a visual analysis report:
  1. Time Period
  2. Frequency
  3. Incident Class
  4. Location
The reports created in the Analyze screen can be saved in different formats such as bar chart, stacked bar chart, line chart, or pie chart based on your requirements and preference.

Task: Create an Incident Class Visual Analysis Report

Select Analyze in the Main Menu to open the Analyze screen. Then use the following steps to guide you through creating an incident record analysis. 

1. Select the time period to use for the analysis. You can choose from a date range, a number of previous days, or a number of previous months. You can also add several date ranges for comparison purposes.

2. Type a user-friendly name (e.g. 2019) in the "Period Name" field or leave it blank to have the chosen date ranges appear on the analysis chart.

3. Select the [ADD PERIOD] button.

4. Select the [NEXT] button to continue.
NOTE: At any time during the analysis process, you can move back a step by selecting the [BACK] button. If you would rather start over, you can also select [CLEAR] to clear all selected criteria and restart the process.
5. There are two possible choices in the "Frequency" section. You can select a calendar-based interval (Day, Weekday, Month, Year), or you can select the "Class" option to make incident classes the frequency focal point of the analysis.

6. Select the [NEXT] button to continue.

7. Select the incident classes you want to appear in the analysis one by one by using the [ADD CLASS] button. You can also use the [ADD ALL] button to include all incident classes. When you are done, select the [NEXT] button to continue.

NOTE:   When selecting Class, you can drill down further into the Category, Sub-category, and Type. You can also stop at any level that you want.
8. Select the Locations you want to cover in the analysis. Choose a location in the dropdown list and then select the [ADD LOCATION] button to add it to the analysis. You can also use the [ADD ALL] button to add all locations to the analysis. When you are done, select the [NEXT] button to continue.

9. Select the Report type you want to format the analysis data into. You can choose from a Bar chart, Stacked bar chart, Line chart or Pie chart. Select the [NEXT] button to continue.

10. Enter in a new title for the report. Select the [GENERATE] button to create the analysis report.

The analysis report will appear in the bottom half of the screen.

NOTE: If you chose "Class" in the Frequency section, you will see a more granular view of a specific incident class by selecting it in the graph. This will open a new view showing a subclass breakdown of the selected incident class.

You can save the generated analysis report as follows:
  1. To save the analysis to your Reports screen, select the [SAVE TO REPORTS] button.
  2. To save the analysis to your Dashboard screen, select the [SAVE TO DASHBOARD] button.
Below the Save buttons is a row of icons. When selected, these icons (from left to right) perform the following actions:
  1. Save the report to your PC as a .csv Excel file.
  2. Save the report to your PC as a .png image file.
